2008 Arts Leadership Convergence
On October 1st, Arts for LA gathered 200 arts, civic and education leaders at the Skirball Cultural Center to review a policy platform that will focus collective advocacy efforts over the next two budget cycles. 
The platform, rooted in a value statement, contains eleven goals centered around five issue areas: Arts Education, Funding & Revenue Streams, Cultural Infrastructure, Cultural Tourism and Integration with Every Aspect of Civic Life.

Arts for LA Welcomes Camille Schenkkan!
Camille started in September and has hit the ground running. In addition to managing the day-to-day membership program, Camille is charged with implementing our online communication systems, including our Drupal website and monthly eblasts and reservation systems. Additionally Camille will assist in Arts for LA's day-to-day operations.

On Thursday, May 1st ten members of the arts community provided public comment to the City of LA's Budget and Finance Committee. In a year of big budget cuts, Arts for LA felt is was especialy important to have a strong showing of support for DCA, its new leadership and the impending cultural master plan.
