The Los Angeles County Arts Commission is now welcoming applications for the 2013/14 Organizational Grant Program (OGP).  OGP provides financial support to assist and strengthen nonprofit arts organizations to provide quality arts services to enrich the lives of Los Angeles County residents.

Arts for LA announces its endorsement of three pieces of legislation, all supporting access to arts and arts education, appearing on the November ballot in Los Angeles County. Each endorsement is supported by the Arts & Culture Framework of Los Angeles County, which serves as the region’s guide to greater support for arts, culture, and arts education.

The City of Los Angeles is holding public Regional Budget Hearings to provide opportunities for citizens to express their budget priorities for the upcoming fiscal year.  The City Council's Budget and Finance Committee will be in attendance, along with representatives from many city departments.  Arts advocates are encouraged to attend, and ask questions about the City's ongoing commitment to arts and culture.

At the Los Angeles Unified School District School Board Meeting on March 13, 2012, the Board voted to move forward with placing a local Parcel Tax on the ballot for the November 2012 elections.  Board members stressed that this is a temporary, emergency measure designed to backfill the revenue shortfalls currently facing the district. 

On March 13th, the Los Angeles Unified School (LAUSD) Board will be voting on an updated fiscal stabilization plan.  This draft plan, released today by the Daily News, still includes a worst-case scenario that includes total elimination of elementary arts.

Americans for the Arts has reported that the FY 2013 budget released by the Obama Administration includes several increases in funding for federal arts and cultural agencies, including $8 million increases for the National Endowment for the Arts and National Endowment for the Humanities. This would bring their total annual budgets to $154 million each.
