The arts in Los Angeles are in crisis and they need your voice.



The City of Los Angeles Budget and Finance Committee has put forward a motion to eliminate the Department of Cultural Affairs dedicated source of revenue.


Voice your support to maintain the only dedicated revenue source for neighborhood art and culture in the City of Los Angeles. 

Take action by sending your Councilmember a letter voicing your opposition to this motion.  

Take action by joining Arts for LA in providing public testimony at the council meeting on Wednesday, February 3rd.

Strength in Numbers

Thanks to your efforts, the Campaign to retain the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs' TOT allocation was a success.

Over 5,000 letters were generated to City Council members from their stakeholders. An additional 100 advocates attended Wednesday's city council meeting, in which 30 impassioned speakers voiced the value of arts and culture to the city and the communities they serve.

City of LA - Arts Parks & Aging Commitee

The City of Los Angeles Arts Parks and Aging Committee is scheduled to hold a special hearing this Tuesday, February 8, 2010 at 8:30am.

Discussion on the Department of Cultural Affairs’ proposed 2010-11 Budget including the impacts of recommendations proposed in the City Administrative Officer’s Mid-Year Financial Status Report and Three-Year Plan to Fiscal Sustainability.

CAO Calls for Immediate Elimination of City Grant Program

The news is getting even worse. Arts for LA just received word that the CAO's report is calling for the immediate elimination of the grants program - including all unencumbered 09/10 grants. Stay tuned for more information as it becomes available.
