The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County is seeking an intern as part of their Getty Marrow Undergraduate (GMU) Summer Internship for its Exhibitions department. The GMU Intern works closely with the Exhibition Developers to create new exhibition content. This involves detailed research, visitor evaluation, concept prototyping, and writing engaging labels. It is an exciting time as we embark on new journeys of becoming a museum of, for, and with L.A.

Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to:

-Assist with research and label writing for new exhibitions.

-Create keys for habitat group dioramas.

-Help install exhibitions about cats and minerals.

-Assist Exhibition Developers in conducting prototyping and visitor evaluation for exhibitions.

-Other duties as assigned by Exhibitions Developers and departmental needs.

This position has the following requirements:

-Be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate in either a bachelor’s degree program or an associate’s degree program. Students must have completed at least one semester or two quarters of college by June. Students who graduated the semester or quarter immediately before the internship begins are also eligible. (Students who are enrolled in a second BA or BS program are not eligible.)

-Attend college in or be a permanent resident of LA County.

-Be a United States citizen or permanent resident (non-citizen authorized to live and work in the United States on a permanent basis; also known as a “green card” holder). Students with DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival) status valid through the internship period are also eligible.

-Be able to complete the full 10 consecutive weeks of the internship. The GMU Intern can select one of the following internship periods:

June 2 to August 8, 2025

June 9 to August 15, 2025

June 16 to August 22, 2025

Hourly range for this position is $17.87 per hour based on experience plus excellent benefits. NHMLAC, in good faith, believes that this posted rate of compensation is the accurate range for this role at this location at the time of this posting. This range may be modified in the future. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual’s relevant skills, experience, qualifications, and applicable laws. This is a Full-time temporary, non-exempt position. This temporary assignment is anticipated to end on August 22, 2025.
